This ceramic butter dish is inspired by the paintings and patterns of Bloomsbury Artist, Vanessa Bell (1879-1961). Each one is unique and handmade in my garden studio in Sussex, England. This pattern is called 'Nessa', it is handpainted with unique patterns in coloured underglaze. The speckles come from little flecks of iron within the body of the clay. When the piece fired it creates a lovely effect on the surface of the piece.
